If you’re not doing this, then you are missing out on potentially tens, hundreds or thousands of leads depending on your sector.  All for a fraction of the cost of traditional advertising.

Facebook has over 1 Billion users.  Facebook also owns Instagram.  Instagram has over 100 million users per month.  Take that in for a moment.  You want some of those as customer’s right?

What if you could create adverts that were shown in front of a selection of those users?  You choose the audience, you choose how much you pay.  You choose their interests.

How does it work?

You create an advert for something you are offering.  Take a restaurant for example.  Let’s say they had a special 50% offer in their restaurant and they wanted to target everyone within 20 miles of their restaurant.  That is probably the simplest advert to create.  You simply choose how much you want to spend, what text you want them to see and where you want them to go once they click on the advert.  Then when choosing your targeting you choose a town and then a radius around that town (or city/postcode etc.)

That’s not all…

Now the clever part.  You can narrow targeting down to pretty much any demographic that includes age, sex, location, interests, job title as listed on Facebook, what other pages they like amongst a host of other options.

That allows you to be very, very clever when advertising particular products/services.  Let’s say you wanted to target women for a lingerie company.  You can choose people who are female, between varying ages (18+), who have interests in lingerie, who like other large pages (think Victoria’s Secret etc.).  That allows your advert to land in the timeline of people who YOU want.  Base it on your typical customer.

What is great about Facebook advertising, is that comparatively it’s a very affordable option for businesses based on the number of people that you can reach for a small cost compared to other traditional advertising mediums (where you don’t choose the exact people you are advertising to).
